Staunton Virginia Sports

Last night I was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Staunton High School Athletic Association (VHSAA).

Joseph White, known for finding unique ways to write about sports and other topics during an award-winning career with The Associated Press, has died at age 56. I am based in Washington, D.C., where I covered the NFL and the Redskins and wrote many of the most important stories in the history of sports in Virginia. I was awarded the Sports Writers "Award in 2004 and 2005. The mayor of Staunton has declared a day in honor of Paul Hatcher and his gym has been called PaulHatcher Gymnastic since 1990. I have already been inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, as a member of the VHSAA and Lee High School Athletic Association, as well as the University of Virginia College of Journalism and Mass Communications.

In 1990, R.E. Lee's team was recognized by the Virginia General Assembly, and the following year the House passed a resolution honoring him and his players.

The governing body has gone more than three-quarters of the way to that target, the target of getting 25 schools into sport by January 2017. The program is made possible by a grant from the USA Triathlon Foundation.

Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre has artificial snow, so visitors can try skiing, snowboarding and tubing all year round. Many resorts also offer outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Virginia's 35 parks offer many outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, running, mountain biking and fishing. Concerts and performances will be held throughout the week and include folk dance, Appalachian clogging, folk music, rock "n" roll, jazz, blues, hip-hop and more.

The Virginia Film Festival in November is hosted by the University of Virginia - Charlottesville and features films by filmmakers, directors, actors, musicians, writers, filmmakers and more.
